Design & Safety
A single dialysis session takes close to four hours to complete, and most
patients require three to four dialysis sessions per week. With that much
time being spent hooked up to a machine, dialysis patients need a comfortable
environment in which to receive treatment. The Dialysis Center was planned
with patient comfort in mind. Our specialized chairs were designed specifically
for dialysis patients. These oversized chairs fully recline to maximize
patient comfort while still allowing ease of access for the care team.
Also, each individual station comes complete with a privacy curtain and
an adjustable flat screen television equipped with cable. Floor to ceiling
windows in the treatment room allow natural light into the space, resulting
in the feeling of a less "clinical" environment.
At Sierra View, the safety of our patients and our employees always comes
first. That philosophy extends into the design of The Dialysis Center.
Large emergency exits are clearly marked and easily accessible. Infection
control measures such as hands-off sinks, light switches, water closets
and more are in place throughout the building. A state-of-the-art patient
lift is available to transfer patients from their wheelchair to the dialysis
chair and back. Computers on the clinic floor are wireless and portable
to help minimize the risk of falls. And to prevent medication errors,
we utilize the Med Select System.
