The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. Sierra View Medical Center is proud to be a DAISY Award Partner.
To find out more about the program, please visit the DAISY Foundation website.
The Daisy Foundation was formed in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP). The nursing care Patrick received during his eight-week hospitalization profoundly touched his family. To recognize the extraordinary nurses that helped them through their darkest hours, Patrick's family created The DAISY Foundation, standing for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem.
The DAISY Foundation expresses gratitude to Nurses for the extraordinary compassionate, skillful care they provide patients and families. By honoring compassionate nurses, DAISY reinforces the importance of compassion in healthcare. Today, DAISY proudly honors Nurses wherever they practice, in whatever role they serve, and throughout their careers, from nursing students through lifetime achievement.
Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, and employees are invited to nominate a deserving nurse. If the nurse you nominate receives The DAISY Award, you will be notified. To nominate, please fill out this form.
