Rehabilitation Services

Rehabilitation is a method of using exercises, stimulation, and instruction designed to help a person regain lost function and decrease pain.  An individual may lose function due to illness, injury, or surgery.  All ages can benefit from rehabilitation.  Sierra View Medical Center offers a wide range of therapeutic treatments with state-of-the-art equipment.  Our services include Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy.  We believe that through rehabilitation, function and independence can be restored, helping individuals maintain their desired lifestyle. 

Our clinical staff is trained in providing treatment geared towards individual patient’s abilities with realistic goals achieved through encouragement, proven therapy techniques, and family involvement.  With our team approach to patient care, rehabilitation can help patients on the road to recovery and illness prevention.  Our goal is to provide comprehensive services that restore health and improve quality of life.

Physical Therapy

Physical Therapy provides treatments that help improve mobility.  Goals may include:

  • Assess work environment for injury-prevention
  • Assess needs for mobility equipment such as wheelchairs, walkers, prostheses and braces
  • Avoid surgery
  • Decrease pain
  • Educate on care of the joints and muscles
  • Establish a fitness program
  • Heal and prevent infection in open wounds
  • Improve balance to prevent falls
  • Improve motion
  • Recover from disability
  • Reduce the risk of injury

Occupational Therapy

Occupational Therapy provides treatment to improve an individual’s ability to function independently at home and in the community.  Goals may include:

  • Educate on adaptive equipment, such as dressing and bathing aids
  • Improve hand dexterity
  • Improve independence after trauma
  • Teach energy conservation while recovering from medical problems
  • Train caregivers in proper safety procedures

Speech Therapy

Speech Therapy provides treatment to help with expressing one’s thoughts, comprehending what one hears or sees, swallowing problems, and the production of voice.  Goals may include:

  • Verbal communication
  • Eliminate vocal nodules
  • Fluency of speech
  • Improve comprehension
  • Improve memory
  • Reduce or eliminate choking or coughing when eating/drinking
