The Friends of Nursing (FON) at Sierra View Medical Center, a nonprofit
501c(3) program, helps the hospital recruit and retain talented nurses
through providing scholarships and advanced professional education support.
FON accomplishes its work and promotes the nursing profession entirely
through the efforts of its members, donors and volunteers. Funds for scholarship
awards and programs, patient education, educational speakers, seminars,
nursing activities, hospital equipment, and national award displays are
raised through various events and the generosity of donors.
The FON program was established in 2006 by the Sierra View District Hospital
Foundation in an effort to incite interest in the nursing profession as
our state endured a serious nursing shortage at the time. Since its inception,
FON has raised more than $100,000 through fundraisers. Money has also
been raised through employee giving campaigns and Save Mart Supermarkets
Your donation would immensely help in providing scholarships to more nursing
students and add excellence in the field that would in turn, better the
care of patients at SVMC.
