Specialty Care Team for Subacute Patients in Porterville Looking for New Team Members

At our Distinct Part Skilled Nursing Facility (DP/SNF), SVMC team members get to know their patients for months and years at a time. Whether patients are staying with us to recover and go home or are finding a new home within the DP/SNF, our interdisciplinary team of caring nurses and compassionate support staff work seamlessly with the DP/SNF’s Medical Director Dr. Harpreet Sandhu to ensure that patients get the care they need. From ensuring that each room is safe and clean to helping patients feel comfortable, our team members keep some of our most fragile patients company.

Just who receives care at our DP/SNF? Our specialty 35-bed subacute facility helps patients who are no longer in need of acute hospital care but still require a higher level of support than that of a traditional skilled nursing facility. The facility operates 24/7 and provides a variety of dynamic services including respiratory care, intravenous therapy, provision of nutrition via tube feeding, and complex wound care.

“For me taking care of our residents on a daily basis and making sure that they get what they need is rewarding,” says Clinical Manager Gloria Lopez, RN. Lopez has been a part of the DP/SNF team for 25 and says everyone works very well together in the department, including with Dr. Sandhu. “Everybody works as a team and understands the level of care needed for DP/SNF residents,” she says.

Nursing career opportunities in the department include Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and Licensed Vocation Nurse (LVN) career paths. Currently, the DP/SNF department is searching for new CNAs to join the team on day or night shifts.
