We understand that pregnancy and giving birth is a special time for you
and your family. Sierra View Medical Center proudly provides compassionate
and comprehensive services as you welcome your little one.
Whether you are a first-time mother or you have been down this road before, you can trust our dedicated expert care team who are ready to give you a healthy beginning to a lifetime of happiness.
Our Maternal Child Health (MCH) Department offers a family-centered approach to care which encourages family members and significant others to participate in the care of their loved one. Our Family Birth Center uses state-of-the-art equipment, that provides sophisticated fetal monitoring by experienced and certified nurses. Notably, our Family Birth Center has received the BETA Quest for Zero: Excellence in OB award for over a decade.
Our 22-bed Family Birth Center adheres to the standards established by First 5 California, an initiative to promote and improve the health of children in the first five years of life. We are designated as the only Baby-Friendly hospital in Tulare County by implementing the First 5 California Ten Steps to Successful Breastfeeding interaction and duration. These practices include:
Our NICU is strategically located on the same floor as the Family Birth Center for efficient delivery of care. The NICU unit cares for neonates 32 weeks and older that require an intermediate level of care (i.e. respiratory support such as bubble CPAP, Nasal Cannula, Intravenous Fluid administration, Sepsis treatment, antibiotics administration, and management of hyperbilirubinemia).
In partnership with Valley Children’s Hospital, our NICU unit has a 24-hour on-call Pediatric Hospitalist and uses telemedicine for consultation as needed. Neonates identified as needing a higher level of care are transferred to Valley Children's Hospital for the best outcomes.
