Celebrating Olga’s Retirement After 30 Years of Service
News
For 30 years, Olga Mendoza has been a familiar and welcoming presence at Sierra View Medical Center. As a Patient Registration Clerk, Olga was often one of the first people patients met when arriving for care, helping set a positive and reassuring tone from the very beginning.
Olga joined Sierra View in 1995, bringing with her experience from Dr. Behl’s office and Lindsay District Hospital. Early on, it was the people she worked with, and their genuine care for patients, that encouraged her to stay in healthcare. After completing medical terminology courses at Porterville College, Olga found her place in Patient Registration, where she could combine organization, communication, and a strong desire to help others.
Over the years, Olga approached her role with the understanding that registration is more than forms and information. It is often a patient’s first step into care. She took pride in helping patients feel at ease, guiding them through the process, and ensuring everything was in place so their appointments, tests, or procedures could move forward without added stress. As a Certified Spanish Interpreter, Olga also helped ensure clear communication, supporting patients and families who relied on her to feel understood.
Born in Mexico and raised in Woodville, Olga now calls Porterville home. Working in the community where she lives has always been meaningful to her, and that local connection showed in the way she treated patients and supported her teammates each day.
Olga’s work reflected Sierra View’s values of Compassion, Collaboration, Accountability, Integrity, and Respect. She brought care and consistency to every interaction, treating patients fairly and supporting the teams around her with professionalism and kindness.
As Olga steps into retirement, she looks forward to spending more time with family, traveling, and returning to hobbies like sewing and knitting. While her daily presence in Patient Registration will be missed, the care and dedication she brought to her role have left a lasting impression.
We thank Olga Mendoza for nearly three decades of service and wish her a happy and well-deserved retirement.
