The DAISY Nurse Leader Award is presented annually to a nurse leader who demonstrates outstanding leadership, compassion, and commitment to supporting nurses and patient care teams.

About the DAISY Award

The DAISY Award is an international program that rewards and celebrates the extraordinary compassionate and skillful care given by nurses every day. Sierra View Medical Center is proud to be a DAISY Award Partner.

The DAISY Foundation was formed in 1999 by the family of J. Patrick Barnes, who died at age 33 from complications of Idiopathic Thrombocytopenia Purpura (ITP). The nursing care Patrick received during his eight-week hospitalization profoundly touched his family. To recognize the extraordinary nurses that helped them through their darkest hours, Patrick’s family created The DAISY Foundation, standing for Diseases Attacking the Immune SYstem.
