Retirement of Jeffery Hudson-Covolo
After more than a decade of service, Sierra View Medical Center recognizes the retirement of Jeffery Hudson-Covolo, DNP, RN, NEA-BC, FACHE, whose leadership has helped shape patient care and nursing practice across the organization.
Hudson-Covolo joined Sierra View in 2014 and served in several executive leadership roles, including Vice President of Patient Care Services, Chief Nursing Officer, and Chief Academic Officer. Throughout his time with the organization, he provided oversight of patient care delivery and safety across the Sierra View Local Healthcare District, with a focus on quality, accreditation, and the overall patient experience.
He championed a patient-centered approach to care while supporting clinical teams and strengthening a culture of safety across the organization. His leadership also helped guide several major initiatives, including the implementation of a new electronic health record system and the expansion of key operational programs within patient care services.
One of his most lasting contributions was the development, accreditation, and implementation of Graduate Medical Education (GME) at Sierra View Medical Center. Appointed as the Designated Institutional Officer (DIO) in 2017, he helped guide the program from initial approval through its launch, creating new opportunities for physician training within the community.
Hudson-Covolo’s leadership has extended beyond Sierra View Medical Center. He currently serves as President of the Association of California Nurse Leaders (ACNL), supporting nursing leadership and workforce development across California.
He was also recognized by Becker’s Hospital Review as one of the “Chief Nursing Officers to Know from 2022 - 2025,” reflecting the impact of his work in strengthening patient care, advancing safety, and supporting key initiatives at Sierra View Medical Center.
In 2025, Hudson-Covolo transitioned into the role of Patient Care Services Strategy Advisor, Hospital Administration, where he continued to support organizational priorities and patient care initiatives.
In recognition of his leadership and service, Sierra View Medical Center has named Hudson-Covolo the 2026 recipient of the DAISY Nurse Leader Award. The award was presented on March 5 during a surprise recognition coordinated by the hospital’s DAISY Committee.
“Jeffery’s leadership has had a lasting impact on Sierra View Medical Center and the patients we serve,” said Donna Hefner, President and CEO of Sierra View Medical Center. “For more than a decade, he has been a trusted leader and mentor whose dedication to nursing and patient care has shaped the direction of our organization.”
The DAISY Nurse Leader Award is presented annually to a nurse leader who demonstrates outstanding leadership, compassion, and commitment to supporting nurses and patient care teams.
Hudson-Covolo holds a Doctor of Nursing Practice in Healthcare Systems Leadership from Chamberlain University and has remained actively involved in advancing healthcare workforce development through regional and statewide leadership roles.
Sierra View Medical Center also shares that Brandy Irwin, MSN, RN, PHN assumed the role of Chief Nursing Officer and continues to lead nursing services and patient care operations. Hudson-Covolo played an integral role in supporting a thoughtful leadership transition, helping ensure continuity across nursing services and patient care.
Sierra View Medical Center is grateful for Jeffery Hudson-Covolo’s years of service and the impact he has made, and wishes him all the best in his retirement.
