Volunteer Opportunities at Sierra View Medical Center

Looking for a great way to give back to your community? Sierra View Medical Center has a wide variety of opportunities available for volunteering at our hospital. SVMC volunteers become a member of a dedicated team that provides the highest quality healthcare in the communities we serve.

Through the generous gift of time, talents and personal interests, our volunteers supplement the work of staff members by offering many special services that are so important to our patients, their families and the hospital staff.

Adult Volunteer Program

Through our Adult Volunteer Program, volunteers can assist at the hospital in an area of their choosing. Volunteers are generally scheduled for the same day and time on a weekly basis. Adult Volunteer Services include:

  • Transporter: Greeting and escorting patients and visitors when needed, disbursement of newspapers, runner for med desk dispatch calls, blood draw runs for unit to lab, retrieve wheelchairs, delivery of dietary trays
  • Clinical Unit Support: Patient support such as pillows, blankets, water, wheel chair round up, errands for unit, special projects
  • Clerical Unit Support: Errands for units/departments, special projects, filing, preparing packets, organizing, gift shop support

Pet Partners (Paws 4 Healing)

While most of SVMC Volunteers walk upright, some of the most popular hospital volunteers have four legs! Thanks to a partnership with Paws 4 Healing, in partnership with Pet Partners®, Sierra View Medical Center is able to offer both animal-assisted therapy and animal-assisted activities to our patients.

Not only do therapy animals provide patients a fun diversion from the hospital routine, but studies have also shown that pet therapy can be beneficial to the healing process. Visits with these animals can help a patient relax, lower blood pressure, reduce feelings of loneliness or depression, improve balance and postural control, and much more.
