Annual Run for Life: Supporting Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center

The Porterville Breakfast Rotary Club invites the community to participate in the annual Run for Life held at Granite Hills High School on September 9, 2023, starting at 8 AM. This much-anticipated event benefits individuals bravely battling cancer and their support systems by raising funds for the Roger S. Good Cancer Treatment Center at Sierra View Medical Center.

The Run for Life is a celebration of life, honoring those courageously fighting cancer and remembering those who have passed away. This year, we pay special tribute to Robert Krase, Sabra Galloway, and one of Sierra View’s own, Maribell Gonzalez.

Participants in the event can choose to run or walk, knowing that every step they take will contribute to a worthy cause. The funds raised from this event will support various community outreach projects, cancer support groups, yearly prostate screenings, survivor's dinners, health fairs, and the purchase of educational materials. By joining the Run for Life, each individual plays a significant role in the fight against cancer and improving the lives of those affected by this disease.

After the exhilarating run or walk, participants can unwind with an unbeatable cool-down session led by local yoga instructor Elizabeth Dieterle, RYT. The event will then offer a delicious post-event gathering featuring tasty pancakes and a variety of beverages provided by The Porterville Runners Club and Stafford's Chocolates.

All registered participants will receive a complimentary short sleeve t-shirt* and everyone who completes the race will receive a medal. Additionally, the top male and female participants in various age groups for both the run and the walk will be awarded. Age groups include 1-12, 13-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70-79, and 80+. Prizes will also be given to the 1st Male and 1st Female finisher overall.

The Porterville Run for Life is not just a running event; it’s a community gathering, bringing people together to support a common cause. Whether you are a fitness enthusiast, a cancer survivor, or simply want to be part of a compassionate community, this event is for you. Join us on September 9th at Granite Hills High School and experience the spirit of camaraderie, hope, and resilience.
