Christmas Polar Express and Last Vaccine Roundup of the Year Were Huge Successes

The Polar Express event we participated in at Porterville College on December 11th was a huge success. Hundreds of families participated in the resource fair featuring COVID-19 vaccinations courtesy of the SVMC-Imperial Ambulance Community Vaccination Teams. Working with Parenting Network, Sierra View showed up for the community in a big way by also working with the City of Porterville in helping to reward community members who received the vaccine with a $100 Gift Card federally funded through the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and coordinated by the city. 147 children ages 5-11 received their vaccines at this event. Families also enjoyed the distribution of 350 turkeys and many free resources from the dozens of community partners that participated. On the same weekend, Porterville’s last Vaccine Roundup of the year also drew in large crowds and even a taco truck! The Vaccine Roundup once again took place at the Community Vaccination Clinic located at 385 Pearson Dr., Porterville, CA 93257. Those who were not able to receive their vaccines at the Porterville College event were re-routed to the Community Vaccination Clinic.

Altogether, more than 2,000 individuals received a COVID-19 vaccine this past weekend.

Becoming fully vaccinated and receiving booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine are essential steps in protecting ourselves and others from COVID-19. For those interested in receiving the vaccine, doing so is easier than ever at the Community Vaccination Clinic. The site operates Thursdays – Saturdays, 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Additional information is available at www.sierra-view.com/COVIDvaccines.
